She is also heavily involved and active in Diversity and Inclusion efforts in esports where she serves on the Board of Directors for organizations such as NACE, VOICE, and the RSAA, but also in the 3D Animation and Visual Effects industry. Professor Ruggles’ has worked over the past 3.5 years with the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF) to found and grow their Summer Learning Program. This initiative has issued mentorship, training, and community for underserved populations in the entertainment industry.

There were a lot of times in my education and career where I would look around and realize that I was the only woman in the room. That always surprised me because I was working with technology, creatively solving problems, gaming, and being part of a team—things all my women friends were really good at. But where were they? Speaking with WISE women at this Forum, I am exhilarated at what they will accomplish. Look around the room now. If you ever have a moment when you feel alone, remember tonight and know you belong where your mind and heart take you. We may not all know each other but we are all rooting for you. Be true to yourself and proud of who you are and all else will follow.
