Christie Schlaner’s passion for science led her to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biology and work in the immunology field before receiving a Master of Teaching degree and a Master of Science in STEM Education. She creates a classroom of questioning, investigation, and group work allowing students to connect to real-world situations. She is an advisor of the STEAM Club, a group of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students that runs the annual STEAMM Expo. The students create projects of their choice that include hands-on activities and explain the science behind their projects with posterboards for 5th graders who visit on a field trip. Christie enjoys promoting STEM to students, colleagues, and the community.
