Scout Day Programs at Da Vinci Science Center at PPL Pavilion are for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA/Scouting America, and Girl Scouts. Our engaging activities and hands-on experiments inspire curiosity and support scouts in earning STEAM-related badges. Scouts will discover the wonders of science and ignite their passion for learning.

Da Vinci Unlocked

Come and spend the day with some of the best that Da Vinci has to offer. Enjoy a live science show and three workshop experiences: Slime Science, Shock and Awesome, and KEVA Cantilevers. See how we have the MOST fun with science!

Wizarding World

Discover a fascinating world where the magical and the scientific are one in the same. Follow the lead of our Wizarding Professors to engineer a Snitch and test it for aerodynamics, experiment with dry ice in Potions Class, and investigate different types of slime left behind by magical creatures!

Space Explorers

Embark on an astronomical adventure through the cosmos. Investigate the many marvels of space, create your own rockets, and replicate cosmic constellations, all from Da Vinci’s Mission Control Center!

Sound Innovations

Dive into the fascinating world of sound waves, vibrations, and musical instruments. Through engaging workshops, explore how physics influences music and uncover the secrets behind frequency, pitch, and rhythm.

Adventures in Anatomy

Step into the amazing world of the human body! Unravel the secret of how your body works and even meet the amazing Cyndi, our synthetic human body. Join us for an immersive experience where curiosity meets biology and gain a deeper understanding of what makes you…you!

Career Pathways

Explore the diverse opportunities awaiting in STEAM fields and ignite your passion for innovation and discovery! See what your future may hold with a variety of activities, workshops, and discussions with professionals.

Tech Trek

Unlock the world of coding and robotics and discover the power of STEAM in action. Decode the secrets of sequencing, patterns, and cause-and-effect using tangible objects and robotics. Join us for an electrifying journey into the exciting realm of coding!


Scout Day Programs Policies

General Information

  • All Scout Day Programs take place from 1-5 p.m. unless otherwise noted in the schedule.
  • One adult per 10 scouts is required.
    • We no longer offer a free chaperone ratio policy.
  • The staff at the Da Vinci Science Center will do everything to make your experience as enjoyable and educational as possible. Feel free to speak to a staff member at any time during a program if you have questions or concerns.
  • Registration is required for all programs.
  • Registration closes 2 weeks prior to program date.
  • Troop/Pack check-in will be at the Groups & Reserved Program Entrance located on West Court Street, between 8th and 9th Street (this is a one-way street). This will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Adult Chaperone Responsibilities

  • Supervision: Always keep scouts within sight, adhere to the buddy system, and remember adults are responsible for their scouts at all times.
  • Safety Rules: Maintain a safe environment by counting scouts when entering and exiting exhibit areas, keeping emergency contact information for each scout, and staying organized.
  • Schedule: Ensure that your group is punctual for their workshops, live science show, and departure.
  • Engagement: Encourage active participation and questions to enhance learning.
  • Behavior: Manage scout behavior as you are responsible while they are in your care. Ensure no running, no food or drinks on the exhibition floor, and maintain respect for exhibits, staff, and other visitors.

Parking

  • There are several public parking garages within 1-4 blocks of the science center, including the following:
    • The Spiral Deck (645 spaces) is located directly behind the science center at 836 Linden St. The walk from there to our group entrance is one block.
    • The Maple Street Parking Deck (1,100 spaces) is located at 920 West Maple St. and offers a 1 to 4 block walk to our group entrance.
  • Please note that parking fees start at $1.00 per hour for the first hour and $2.00 per hour for hours 2-6. Daily max rate is $29.00 (lost ticket rate = $29). Event parking fees may be in place when there are events at the PPL Center.

Refunds & Cancellations

  • Registration can be cancelled/transferred with a full refund, minus the 25% non-refundable deposit, up to 30 days prior to the program date.
  • Cancellations made 15-29 days before program date: 50 percent refund
  • Cancellations made 14 days or less before program date: No refund
  • Refunds will not be issued for anyone who does not attend the program unless the Da Vinci Science Center is notified at least two weeks in advance.
  • Da Vinci Science Center reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum number of registered participants is not met 2 weeks prior to the program date. If Da Vinci Science Center is forced to cancel a program, groups can transfer to a different program or receive a full refund.

Payment Policy

  • 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. Remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the program date. All credit cards used during the registration will be auto-charged the remaining balance at the two week deadline.
  • The deposit must be received within 30 days of receipt but no later than three weeks prior to the trip date.
  • Final payment is required no later than two weeks prior to the program date. Payments will not be accepted the day of the program.
